INTERACTIVE INSTALLATIONS
On two occasions, I had the opportunity to design, build and install interactive projections at live events, in collaboration with a small collective of friends under the name 3Spooky.
These pieces were created using the Unity3D game engine, with a Microsoft Kinect sensor to detect movement and allow viewers to interact with the scenes.
DANCING BEAR
Created for New York based music festival FractalFest in 2016.
This project features a spritely forest dwelling character that tends a fire, dances and meditates.
Viewers who approach the projection are detected by the Microsoft Kinect, and their motions are analyzed to trigger unique behaviors from the characters.
The event was a hit and the piece was enjoyed by children and adults alike!
SCAVENGER
Our second installation was created as a lounge-room display for the festival TogetherBoston in 2017.
It was also featured at New York indie game convention PlayNYC later that year.
An interactive diorama meant to pair with music, this project features a relaxed character in a highly tactile environment. Viewers are detected by the Kinect and a hologram of their body is projected into the scene, while their motions trigger collisions and colorful effects.
